  1. In order to even get accepted into some cultures and their people you have to know and want to get to know the people. We live in Northwest Arctic in Alaska and sometimes it’s hard when newcomers come and lead, because there are alot of Natives who don’t welcome newcomers that easily. But it is very humbling when you meet someone and you know that they want to be your pastor and they want to make a difference, and make an effort to get to know the community :D Of course, this is coming from a local Eskimo.

Exegete your community. Love it! No pastor can preach effectively until they know their audience, but I would guess that few actually do what you have suggested here.

Am glad to inform you Rick that am always encouraged and en-lighted by the emails I receive from you, not to mention what impact your books the purpose driven life and church have made in my life. I pray that your ministry my continue impacting millions. Thanks. Irungu from Kenya

  4. I once advised a pastor to do what you mentioned but he doesn’t want to listen to me. As you said, he doesn’t understand the community.
