How did this make an impact?

  1. Great article! Thank you Pastor Rick for your transparency.

  2. As the leader of a volunteer based non-profit, I constantly struggle with falling into micromanaging. Thanks for reminding me to look for co-laborers who can oversee the vision and its implementation.

  3. I have suffered under many managing Pastors. It is demotivating and discouraging. We were speaking different languages and of course, I was always wrong to ask the tough questions. No one wanted to actually map the mission statement to our actions. There was never a clear assessment of making sure we were all going down the same train track. I could never get a visionary answer. I had reached the leadership lid and so we parted ways. Quite sad actually. But this inadequacy is everywhere. Leaders are rare. Those who are leaders know they will often be alone. But with God…… go we on. We have to. It is what we do.

    Thank you.

Shawna, as a Senior Pastor that has made the mistake of managing more than leading, I have lost leaders like you. Im not sure if you’ve tried but I would encourage you to have an honest direct heart to heart with your Pastor in the future. Im sure I would have done things differently had I heard the hearts of some of the leaders that I managed well but failed to lead well.

Loved this. I’ve been managing far more than leading. Thanks, pastor Rick.
