Beware of the CowDo whatever you have to do to keep this person away from your church! He will do more to keep your church inward focused and ineffective than almost anything. Because of this person, needs are going unmet in our community today. He has provided excuses, caused conflicts, and often raises unfounded questions and criticisms. He will also keep other people in church from serving God, using their spiritual gifts, from worshiping through giving, and growing in their walk with Christ. He or she may even cost your church more money as you have to hire more staff to fix what this person has done to the hearts and minds of people in the congregation.

Let me give you this persons name: SOMEBODY ELSE.

As a ministry leader, I heard often about the exploits of SOMEBODY ELSE, but it was always false and there efforts always resulted in less ministry being accomplished.

Our church conducts a lot of Block Parties. So many we decided to get our own Block Party Trailer. Recently I was asked if Block Parties are effective or just something else to add to a long list of things that keep Christians busy, but not bearing fruit. 2. INCARNATION. “The word became flesh & blood & moved into the neighborhood” John 1:14 (MSG). A Block Party is a great way to get the church building relationships where people are. We do Block Parties in neighborhoods & subdivisions, at local parks. I also love to incarnate at the communities Block Party type of events. Why try to gather people when they’re…

How big of a commitment are you willing to make?

Here are three levels of relationship that excludes no church from involvement. I offer a few suggestions that are not meant to be an exhaustive list under each level.

1. Friending / Encouraging

Church Planting is a difficult, lonely task, filled with uncertainty and vulnerability. You and your church can strengthen and encourage a church plant, as well as demonstrate a kingdom mindset, by reaching out a hand of friendship. This can be done with little or no expense to you and your church. Here are a few ideas:

  • Put a church planter on your weekly prayer list. The real battle against the kingdom of…
